(Note that if you are applying for a higher specialty included in the list above, you don’t need to apply for exemption from the initial specialty e.g. if you are a cardiologist, you only apply for exemption from the board of cardiology, you don’t need to apply for the exemption of the board of internal medicine)

(Note that some specialties that have board certification in the US are not included in the list above (e.g., interventional cardiology), so the applicant will get the exemption for the prior specialty from the list above (e.g., cardiology).

The process consists of four steps:

1- Create an online account with JMC and submit an online application for the exemption.

2- Dataflow verification: this includes the following documents:

  • Subspecialty board certificate
  • Subspecialty training certificate
  • Work experience letter(s) (Make sure the letter of experience explicitly states your specialty , and it should match the specialty you’re applying to get exemption for)
  • State license(s) for the period included in the work experience letter

3- Amideast verification: this includes the following documents:

  • The same documents that you verified in Dataflow
  • Major specialty board certificate
  • Major specialty training certificate

4- Paper application at the Jordanian Medical Council

Steps 1, 2, and 3 can be started simultaneously, but the paper application referenced in step 4 can only be submitted once the first 3 are completed.

JAPA responsibility: Once you sign up for the service and pay the concierge fee, a JAPA representative will contact you with details for each step. Additionally, the representative will assist in the required steps and answer your questions. Once all steps are completed, the representative will follow up on the application in person at JMC and update you periodically.

Applicant responsibility: The applicant is expected to complete the above steps with assistance from the representative and respond to messages in a timely manner to avoid delays.

Note: The fee quoted below includes JAPA’s concierge fee and the fee for the paper application at JMC since that has to be paid in cash at the time of application. The applicant will also have to pay the fees to Dataflow and Amideast and will pay the fee to get the certificate once the exemption is granted.
